"REBOOT"
Sergio Farfan Solo Exhibition
Join us for an evocative journey through “Reboot,” a solo exhibition that captures the essence of childhood wonder, artistic evolution, and nostalgia. With a signature style rooted in Psychological Cubism, this collection of eight monochromatic paintings revisits the artist’s early fascination with TV characters, cartoons, and anime. Each piece embodies the disconnect and complexity of growing up, portrayed through the “no-signal” patterns of vintage CRT screens.
About the Exhibit:
"Reboot" reflects on the artist’s 2016 show, TV Heads, now with a matured lens that reinterprets those formative visual memories. Each "TV head" painting is both a tribute to the innocence of youth and a reminder of the freedom that inspired early creativity—a celebration of reconnecting with the past to fuel the art of today.

ARTIST STATEMENT
"Reboot" is a reflection of my journey as both an artist and a child of the TV generation. Growing up immersed in cartoons, anime, and TV shows, I found my first sparks of creativity in the characters that filled my screen. These visual experiences shaped not only my imagination but also my desire to create. This solo exhibition revisits my 2016 show, "TV Heads," with a matured perspective—reinterpreting the past while staying rooted in those original inspirations.
Each of the eight paintings in "Reboot" draws directly from the characters that first stirred my artistic instincts. Painted monochromatically, these pieces mirror the no-signal design of old CRT televisions, evoking a sense of disconnect that parallels how, as adults, we often lose touch with our childhood selves. The characters are rendered in a Psychological Cubistic style to represent a range of emotions, embodying both the complexity and simplicity of childhood feelings.
Vintage TVs, transformed into "TV heads" and painted as faces, serve as a direct homage to where this journey began. These pieces are physical symbols of how childhood and adult life intertwine, much like the static on an old screen, reminding us that the freedom and innocence of youth are often lost in the noise of growing up.
"Reboot" is my way of reconnecting with that early inspiration, not just to look back, but to celebrate the profound influence those early moments had on my artistic evolution. This show is about reclaiming that part of myself and honoring the creative force that television and animation instilled in so many of us, who now, as artists, get to build worlds of our own.
