Biography

Rick’s work reflects his love of natural elements including Agate’s, marble and granite. Unfortunately, images can’t capture the three dimensional effect this process creates which is similar to the nuances created by light reflecting into a natural stone or crystal. Each piece changes as light moves through the room pulling out different features that Rick adds throughout the process. The process begins by mixing various colors into clear resin then infusing metallic powders, as he add layers he moves to a 6 foot ladder and begins to drop chemicals. These chemicals create an oil to water like reaction that allows him to separate the metallic into thin detailed cells as well as create depth and dimension. It also allows him to control the process, Rick currently hold a utility patent on the process verifying the unique nature of what he does.

After selling his start up internet business in 2005, Rick Lowe decided that it was time to start doing what he wanted to do, instead of what he had to do, and that meant something related to design. At that time, he owned 8 acres of property in the Villages, Florida. He decided that he would open a design and garden center where people could see the landscaping that they imaged for their homes in person. His design center has putting greens, outdoor kitchens, an infinity edge pool, and thousands of retail items. But, something was missing. He tried searching for unique pieces for his center that would make it stand out. He hired several artists and purchased multiple pieces from vendors, but he still felt like he needed something more. That is where his journey as an artist piqued!

After experimenting with concrete, metal, and glass for his art work, Lowe decided to try something different. He wanted something that was unlike anything out there. Then he found the key that is now behind his brilliant artwork: Resin. Lowe says, “I love working with resin. The fact that I can mess with different colors and textures to produce something unique is so exciting to me. The fluidity of the resin is what makes my art so interesting, no two pieces are ever the same.” At first, Lowe created these pieces to make his design center look more attractive, but as customers started continuously asking if the pieces were for sale, he decided to start marketing his art.

Today, Lowe’s artwork is being featured in large designer showrooms, galleries, and at numerous fine art shows and festivals. His work can be found in private and corporate collections across the U.S, Europe, ad Canada.
